Why Cartilage Surgery?

Why Cartilage Surgery?

A significant part of my professional career has been spent treating cartilage problems. The majority of my scientific studies, and nearly all of my national/international patents, have focused on cartilage treatment research. In line with this, I have always strived to provide my patients with the best and most up-to-date treatments.

I have performed demanding cartilage surgeries, particularly in young patients. Thanks to referrals from my colleagues and patients who came to me directly, I have reached a very large patient population. Fortunately, my success rates have been high. My own cases represent the largest cartilage transplantation series in Turkey. Using methods such as Autologous Chondrocyte Transplantation (ACT), Minced Cartilage, and cadaveric osteochondral tissue transplantation, I have treated more than 500 patients. I have also performed partial biological replacement of the joint in the knee, hip, and ankle. I completed these procedures through combined surgeries that also addressed other problems within the joint.

As I always say, my goal has always been to preserve the joint. Cartilage surgery is an advanced and serious treatment method that requires treating problems in all parts of the joint together with the cartilage. If left untreated, permanent and irreversible damage will occur in the joint, which may later require replacement surgery.

Preserving the natural joint should, of course, always be the primary and essential goal. This becomes a necessity, especially when the patient is young. The most important point patients need to understand is how critical early treatment, and even prevention of cartilage damage in the first place, truly is. Therefore, at the slightest concern, you should consult a doctor you trust who is competent in this field.
